PREAMBLE

The Africa Centre of Excellence for Neglected Tropical Diseases and Forensic Biotechnology (ACENTDFB), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, intends to engage a driver for its two vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The driver shall be expected, under the directive of the Centre Leader, to:

1. Drive the vehicles within and outside Zaria..

2. Maintain the vehicles in a clean and safe conditions.

3. Ensure safety of the vehicles whenever they are under his/her care.

4. Carry out routine maintenance, regular servicing and minor repairs of the vehicles as deemed necessary.

QUALIFICATION

Applicant for the position shall be required to possess the following qualifications:

1. A minimum of First School Leaving Certificate

2. Valid and current national driving license

3. Minimum of unblemished five years of driving experience

4. Familiarity with all traffic regulations

5. Ability to communicate in English and Hausa languages

6. High mental acuteness (ability to remain calm under stress)

7. Minimum age of 25 years and maximum of 40 years

The appointment which shall be a full time contract engagement, will be for an initial provisional period of six (6) months, after which based on satisfactory performance/assessment, be confirmed for two years. Notice of disengagement or non-renewal of appointment shall be by a one month notice by any of the party or as may be mutually agreed by the two parties. Appointment shall be subject to renewal based on the decision of the management of the Centre.

SALARY AND RENUMERATION

Salary and allowances which is negotiable, shall be in conformity with exiting salary structure in existing Federal Government Parastatals and Agencies.
